Today, more and more people have become hygiene conscious. So the market of tissue paper is on an increase. As it is recyclable and biodegradable, it serves environmental protection too.

Tissue paper is a lightweight paper used for several purposes. Tissue papers are mainly made from recycled paper pulp. The manufacturing is similar to normal papers with pulping, cleaning, and compressing processes.

The main properties of tissues are absorptivity, minimal weight, brightness, softness, appearance, and comfort.

The Making of Tissue Paper

Tissue Paper Pulping Process

The pulp necessary for tissue papers is obtained from recycled papers and fibers, prepared in the pulping machine. The raw material is collected in a mixer tank (pulper) and stirred with water and chemicals to soften the pulp and improve its color.

Once pulp is ready, it is operated for water removal. The mixture is sent to screeners that let water escape, leaving fibers on the belt. These fibers are transferred to Yankee - a large heated roller that dries the fabric instantly.

The tissue from rolls is collected, plies are split and passed through an embossing roller. The embossing roller softens the tissue paper and gives it a smooth structure.

Uses of Tissue Paper

Tissue papers are used for facial tissue, toilet tissues, paper towels, table napkins, and sometimes as packing tissue.
